Help Einstein

I find myself often contemplating things that have no apparent immediate effect on my life whatsoever. I just can't help it. These aimless mental meanderings help me constantly erase and redraw regions of my personal morality.

 On one such journey I came up with a simple thought that helped me explain the purpose of my own life to a certain satisfiable extent -

 Help Einstein.

I define Einstein as the stroke of genius that can reside in one or more human beings living in this universe. Einstein will help humankind break barriers, and will help us understand more about the universe we live in. Einstein will take us forward in our quest for that thing which we don't even know we are looking for. Einstein could just as well be silly and kill us all. Einstein's mind could be dulled with hunger. Einstein could be a girl or a boy, or neither. As we speak, maybe Einstein is being raped, or being forced into marriage, or being forced to rear children. Einstein might not have any parents. The need to be loved might be so sharp and painful that maybe Einstein cannot concentrate on the groundbreaking research that will help us all. Einstein could be playing hooky from school, that little rascal! Or wait. Maybe Einstein wants to go to school, but is unable to do so. Maybe Einstein's school is not one that encourages genius minds. Einstein could be missing just one link, the link that could unravel every mystery. And that link could be a thought in the mind of a professor at an Ivy League school, or an equation in a paper published in an expensive academic journal. Einstein could be terribly shy and is maybe hiding from us. Einstein could be a late bloomer. 

 It doesn't matter what Einstein is or isn't. Einstein will help us all, but Einstein needs a lot of help as well. 

 For starters, we should allow our Einstein to be born. Einstein needs to be loved and encouraged every step of the way. Einstein needs inspiration, and loads of it! Einstein needs to be taught the importance of a good work ethic. We can't afford to have our Einstein be a quitter! Einstein needs money. Most importantly, Einstein needs freedom - freedom to dream, and to think absofrikkincrazy thoughts. 

 Let us do ourselves a favour. Let us all help Einstein.

Close encounters with the 3rd kind

My recent trip to Tirupati (to attend my friend's wedding) was fantastic! We had loads of fun. The wait for THE DARSHAN was an opportunity to get gossiping, and it didn't hurt that i got a wonderful eyeful of his highness Sri Venkatachalapathi. The laddu was definitely a welcome break after the mad rush and the ever famous "jaragandis" (guards yelling at you to move on). A small observation here - the smaller laddu given inside the temple seems to taste better than the larger ones we get outside. My friend's wedding went off quite well. And Then There Was Sight...Err...6/6 Sight

When you've lived more than half your life looking at the world through four eyes, it can be quite magical to once again use only two to experience the world like with the four. LASIK can do that to you. It can change your world, especially if you are able to relate to what i have to say below. It all started when i was in 2nd standard. The math(s) teacher always used to give us mental sums in the beginning of the class as a small test of what we'd learnt until then. Funnily, i always got the audio questions correct, but when the questions went up on the black board, i muddled up the 8's with the 0's, the 3's with the 5's and ended screwing up my most important mental sums tests! I still manage a wry inner smile whenever i think of the agony that my younger self went through, not knowing the answer in spite of knowing the method. What's with the Adjectives?

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel that most of our Indian on-stage speeches are just plain stuffy? Why doesn't anyone ever get to the point? Longer is definitely not the way to go, and yet, it seems to be the sole aim of the speaker to shush the audience to dreamland for at least half an hour. And don't even get me started on the Adjectives!!!! Why in the world does a mayor have to be "Worshipful"??!! We aren't in England for God's sake! And "Beloved"? "Radiant"? Sheesh. Such grandiloquence puts even the great bards to shame. The irony is, not even a single bit of any of this actually comes from the heart. Every word that is uttered is meant to butter up the "Dignitaries". Gone are the times when humility was considered to be a virtue and not a weakness.
